常州威雅艺术部每周都会评选一些优秀的学生艺术作品，这也是将于6月19日星期六举办的“威雅年度艺术展”的一个重要分支活动。

As part of the build up to the wonderful end of year Pupil Art Exhibition on Saturday 19th June, the Art Department is delighted to present the Wycombe Abbey School Changzhou Secondary ‘Artwork of the week’.

王同学 (十年级, Scott)是本周的首选嘉宾，他的获奖作品同时也是他的IGCSE摄影考试作品。

T. Wang (Year 11, Scott) is the first choice this round, and the winning entry is his Photography Exam Piece for his IGCSE.

主题名为《自由》。

The Theme is ‘Freedom’.

为拍摄到满意的作品，王同学非常用功刻苦、百折不挠，是对艺术坚定不移的热爱才造就了他如今惊人的成就。

Travis worked extremely hard and failed a number of times in the process of achieving such an amazing result.

他对艺术的坚持是无价的。当他的大作完成之时，不得不说，满身尽是彩色粉末的他真的需要好好洗个澡、换身衣服。

His perseverance has been priceless and it is fair to say he needed a good shower and change of clothes when he was done.

这幅是他作品集里的五件作品之一，届时将会在艺术展上展出。王同学也会在艺术展上分享他的摄影心得。

The work is part of a 5-piece collection which will be on display at the Art Exhibition. T. Wang will also be at the Art Exhibition where he will be able to talk you through his photography skills.

Commentary

这张照片是我于粉末在空气里的爆炸瞬间拍摄到的。灵感来源于一位YouTube艺术家。他用彩色粉末为照片里的人物创造出非凡的效果。这一做法给了我很大的启迪。于是我双手沾满粉末，用高速快门捕捉我双手击掌的瞬间。这张照片背后的含义是：有时候每个人自己的想法可能并不出彩。但如果你愿意打破传统，博采众长，那么这些创意就可能成为最好的。

“This piece that I took is the sudden moment of the powder exploding and expanding into the air. It is inspired by a YouTube Artist who uses colored powder to create an extraordinary effect on the characters within the picture. I used a very fast shutter speed to capture the moment that I clap my hands while having powders on them. The meaning behind the photo is that one individual’s ideas might not be outstanding, but if you are welling to break with traditions and bring many ideas together then those ideas may become the best of all.”

The Art Department and the School would like to congratulate Travis and all our photographers and artists on their hard work. The results of perseverance and dedication to art and a wider curriculum are clear in all aspects of school life. Our artists achieve top university entry offers in the UK (examples include Edinburgh, UAL,  Leeds and Goldsmiths) and have recently received outstanding scholarships worth tens of thousands of dollars to SAIC and Pratt School of Design in the United States of America.
