提“剑”风雷动！
2021年常州市中小学生击剑锦标赛喜报！
Xinbei Fencing Competition
周末5月8日和9日，常州威雅击剑队来到新北区参加了由常州市体育局及常州市教育局主办的2021年常州市中小学生击剑锦标赛。在场的人们都见证到了威雅强大的队伍以及每位击剑运动员的优秀表现。
On Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of May, the Wycombe Abbey Changzhou Fencing team travelled to Xinbei to take part in a competition, in which they saw great team and individual success. All the pupils, from Years 7 to 10, practiced the Epee style in their bouts, a form of fencing in which allows for the whole body to be a valid target for strikes made with the tip of the epee sword.
常州威雅六至九年级击剑队的学生都练习重剑。重剑，是以整个身体作为剑尖击打目标的一种击剑形式。参加课外击剑课程的学生坚持定期练习，将有机会代表学校登场亮剑，驰骋剑道。
The pupils, who practice regularly as a part of our extra offerings in the ECA programme, represented the school to the best of their abilities, fighting gracefully and demonstrating a great finesse with their blades.

初中生男子重剑团体赛
Junior High School Boys Epee Team Group
戴同学(八年级G8 Elgar)、张同学(九年级G9 Elgar)、李同学(九年级G9 Hawking)和王同学(九年级G9 Elgar)，获初中生男子重剑团体亚军。
A. Dai Y9 Elgar, T. Zhang Y10 Elgar, K. Li Y10 Hawking and T. Wang Y10 Elgar, who won second place in Junior High School Boys Epee Team group.
徐同学(七年级G7 Elgar)、万同学(七年级G7 Scott)、张同学(九年级G9 Elgar)和朱同学(九年级G9 Newton)，获初中生男子重剑团体季军。

黄同学(七年级G7 Cavell)和胡同学(八年级G8 Austen)获初中生女子重剑个人赛的并列季军。
T. Huang Y8 Cavell and H. Hu Y9 Austen won tie for individual third place in Junior high school girls Epee group.
本次比赛结束后，我们击剑选手的训练重点将会转移到一项新的赛事――常州威雅击剑比赛，这将会是一个队友之间切磋比试、评估自己能力的好机会。
The competitors have been getting straight back into training this week with their focus now set on a new goal, the WASCZ Fencing competition, a chance to duel with their peers and test their mettle.
