作为常州威雅提供的种类繁多的课外课程之一,机器人编程入门这项课程旨在帮助初中生运用机械自动化的思维攻克在STEM领域(科学、技术、工程、数学)里遇到的挑战。现如今,世界各国都在推崇科学、技术、工程和数学(STEM)这四个方面的学科发展。也正是因为蓬勃的STEM学科发展,造就了现代社会的基本架构。因此这门课具有相当的全球意义。

As a part of our various ECA offerings at WASCZ, the Introduction to Robotics and Coding ECA seeks to develop the junior pupils’ understanding of challenges and ability to problem solve within the field of STEM. This area of curriculum is of great global importance, with countries all over the world promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects, which form the backbone of our modern society.

课堂上,六、七年级的学生通过使用EV3 LEGO MINDSTORMS这样一款专业的乐高机器人编程软件在STEM领域里进行融合学习。他们使用该软件学习分组编码、程序设计等核心技巧,也学习发动机和传感器的基本原理。在此基础之上,学生们进阶到组装,以及改写预设代码等程序来操作简易机器人。他们可以完全自主设计和研发,但必须要在现实世界中学以致用、解决问题。创建乐高机器人是一项非常有趣的体验,但与此同时,伴随着学生们的是不断的挑战,比如参加编程竞赛和设计比赛。之后,他们也可以使用自己搭建出来的机器人,运行自己编写的控制程序,进入课程的下一阶段学习――EV3“太空挑战”。

In this ECA the Y7 and Y8 pupils blend various aspects of STEM to work using the EV3 LEGO MINDSTORMS program. With this they learn key skills such as block coding, programming, and the basics of motors and sensors. Using this basis, the pupils move onto the assembling and editing of prewritten blocks of code to operate simple robots, which they build and design themselves, that can be used to find solutions to real life problems. Whilst these Lego creations are fun and the pupils compete in challenges such as races and design contests, they can then be used to complete the next stage of the course, the EV3 Space Challenge.

在这个阶段,学生们将两人一组,扮演科学家和工程师的角色,构思创意无限的解决方案、进行沟通交流与团队合作,共同推进STEM领域的研究活动。他们需要运用在课程中习得的技巧来攻克所面临的挑战,包括但不限于设计、建造、编程各式各样的机器人来完成不同的任务。譬如激活信号--通过机器人操作,使卫星天线保持竖直,也比如集合队员--将飞行指挥官带回基地,还可以将MSL机器人从障碍物中解救出来,这样机器人的所有六个轮子都能正常运行,可以完成更多的任务。这有些类似于国际空间站或者各种太空任务中宇航员们需要每日例行完成的工作。

In this stage, the pupils take on the roles of scientists and engineers using creative problem-solving, communication and teamwork, working in groups of two to complete motivating STEM activities. The challenges they face, using the skills learnt in the beginning of the course to overcome them, are similar to those completed daily by astronauts on the ISS and on various space missions! The challenges include designing, building, and programming various robots that can complete tasks such as, navigating a “planet surface” to a satellite dish and recalibrate it, picking up a flight commander and returning them to the home base, freeing a MSL Robot from obstacles so that all six of its wheels are free and operational and many more.

报名这项课外课程的学生们在本学期收获了颇多趣味,不仅仅是为了同一个目标大家通力协作、攻坚克难,编程、创造出机器人所带来的的畅快体验,还因为这门课在切实解决STEM领域里现实问题的同时也与他们的学业紧密联系。目前,机器人编程入门课程仍在如火如荼进行中,我们欢迎所有对机器人编程和自动化解决方案感兴趣的六、七年级学生报名参加。The pupils who took part in the ECA this term have thoroughly enjoyed t, not only for the fun aspect of working together, completing challenges, and building and programming robots, but also as this ECA seeks to develop and understanding of real-life problems within the field of STEM whilst also working hand in hand with their studies. The ECA continues to run and welcomes any and all pupils in Y7 and Y8 who have an interest in robotics, coding and problem solving to sign up.
