感受打击乐的多样魅力―打击乐大师课
Percussion Masterclass
经过两年多的发展，音乐部的打击乐课程从最初单一的架子鼓课，增加了古典打击乐、打击乐合奏以及多种丰富的课外活动。为了支持打击乐的发展，音乐部将打击乐器从单一的架子鼓升级到了包括架子鼓、马林巴、定音鼓、小军鼓、木琴、电颤琴、非洲鼓、铜钹等几十种乐器。在4月29号的春日音乐会上，我们的打击乐小音乐家们向观众展示了这些乐器以及他们独一无二的表演。
After over 2 years development, the percussion faculty at WASCZ has developed from drum kit lessons to multiple instruments including orchestral percussion, percussion ensemble and other ECA lessons. In order to support the development of the percussion programme, we have upgraded our instruments from 2 drum kits to multiple percussion instruments, including drum kits, marimbas, timpanis, snare drums, xylophones, vibraphones, djembes, crash cymbals and more! Our percussionists demonstrated their skills on these various instruments during their unique performances at the Spring Concert on 29th April.
“为我们的学生提供不同的教学体验”是老师们为了帮助学生们更好地追求卓越所奉行的不二法则。为此，音乐部在5月8日邀请到了美国打击乐专业老师Michael Ross Skillern给音乐部打击乐表演工作坊的同学们上了一堂大师课。Skillern先生以硕士学位毕业于南佛罗里达大学打击乐音乐与表演专业，曾获得过北方国际音乐比赛打击乐第一名。他在Spotify和苹果音乐平台上发布了自己的专辑，并与美国众多知名打击乐团合作，如McCormick打击乐团、Kristen Chenoweth、威尼斯交响乐团等。他不仅仅是打击乐独奏和合奏专业人士，同时也是具备丰富打击乐教学经验的专家，尤其擅长古典打击乐团指导和新媒体音乐。由于其出色的专业能力，他被全球知名品牌维克佛斯鼓棒聘为品牌代言人。目前，Skillern先生在美洲、亚洲多个国家致力于推广打击乐和乐队教学指导。
Providing our pupils with a wide variety of experiences is part of what makes our students so successful, and so in this interest, on 8th May, the WASCZ Percussion Studio hosted guest Michael Skillern, a percussionist from the USA as a clinician. Mr. Skillern graduated from University of South Florida with Master degree of Music in Music Performance. He was the first prize winner of North International Music Competition. As a professional solo and ensemble percussionist, he has worked with many well-known groups and artists like McCormick Percussion Group, Kristen Chenoweth and The Venice Symphony and published his own recordings on Spotify and Apple Music. Mr. Skillern is an experienced clinician specializing in orchestral percussion techniques and contemporary music, delivering percussion and band instruction across the America and Asia. Because of his outstanding professional ability, he endorses Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets.
Skillern先生在家中的工作室通过视频连线的方式，用小军鼓、电颤琴等多种打击乐器，向学生们展示不同时期的作曲家Caleb Pickering、J.S. Bach和Chance Willims的知名作品。随后，我们的三位学生谢同学(九年级Y10 Blake)、陈同学(十年级Y11 Scott)、朱同学(九年级Y10 Scott)现场演示了小军鼓和马林巴的演奏。Mr. Skillern对三位学生的表演给与了肯定：台风稳健、对表演的掌控力非常好。在互动交流环节，老师和同学们一起讨论了打击乐技巧：关于音乐节奏的控制；如何构建乐句架构，传授了如何练习的要点和诀窍。同学们向老师询问了他表演曲目的相关问题，以及如何处理表演中遇到的问题。学生们非常高兴可以有这个机会欣赏到老师精湛的技艺，学到了新内容的同时也通过这节大师课收到有价值的指导建议。非常感谢Skillern先生的分享！
Mr. Skillern played from his home studio via video, showing our pupils a wonderful range of repertoires for percussion, including Classical favourites and contemporary music written for percussion and electronics, performing pieces by Caleb Pickering, J.S. Bach, and Chance Williams. Afterwards, three of our students, Y10 Blake M. Xie, Y11 Scott E. Chen, Y10 Scott N. Zhu performed for our guests on snare drums and marimba. Mr. Skillern gave positive feedback on their performances, praising their consistency and control, and their command of the stage. In the communication part, our pupils and Mr. Skillern discussed general percussion techniques, approaching rhythmic musical motifs, phrase structure, and tips and tricks for effective musical rehearsal and practice. The pupils asked pertinent and intriguing questions about the pieces he played and how to deal with the problems during the performance. All our percussion pupils in attendance enjoyed the opportunity to watch Mr. Skillern’s brilliant performances and learned something new from his valuable feedback.
